East African Universities
The Higher Education Awards-East Africa initiative is a special Initiative focused on skills and competences in education and research and their relevance to the region’s economic, social, and cultural development flanks. The initiative aims to promote excellence in the teaching of science and intellectual research in universities and other higher institutions of learning in East Africa.
This initiative is designed to inspire academia’s and research scholars, create strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research, and contribute to a harmonized education and research system in the region for enhancement of human resource to accelerate science-led technology-driven economy in the region and the African continent.
It will achieve its goals through recognition and awards for outstanding performance and achievements in universities and institutions of higher learning in East Africa Region. It’s worth to mention that the Higher Education Awards-East Africa Initiative is a product of article 103(a) of the East Africa Community Treaty that enjoins partner states to promote cooperation in the development of science technology and education as their bedrock.

The Higher Education Awards-East Africa root is to enhance the potential of various East African higher institutions of learning to take their rightful place in shaping perspective of East Africans in development and technological advancements.
Our overall objective for the initiative is to showcase the crucial-ness of universities to the economy and livelihoods of the countries, leveraging the comparative advantage of each Participant to assist collaborations between the academia, civil society and the productive sector both public and private of promoting excellence in the teaching of science and intellectual research in Universities and other institutions of learning by;
• Awakening the potential of various East African higher institutions of learning.
• Identifying areas of mutual interest particularly in Universities
• Focusing on skills and competences, and relevance to the region’s socio-economic needs with creativity, bold thinking, and action.
• Advancing the professional practice of higher education.
• improving the outcome benefits of our institutes in the region.
